The Great British Bake Off is now well under way and is taking over our TVs every Wednesday night. It has inspired us at AsOne Creative Digital Marketing to hold our very own Bake Off.
Over the next 8 weeks every Monday one of our amazing marketing team will step up to the Bake Off challenge. The bakes will be scored on presentation, taste and skill with a possible 120 points up for grabs from their fellow colleagues with each person being able to score the baker out of 5 for each category.
Presentation – Each person will vote on how well they believe the baker decorated their cake. This can be done with anything the baker chooses and with any theme.
Taste – Each person will vote on how good they believe the bakers cake tasted. This does not have to necessarily have to be a sweet bake, this could also be a savoury bake.
Skill – Each person will score the baker on how much skill was required to make the bake. For example if it is a box made cake this requires not much skill but if everything is homemade this will be classed as using more skill.
The first baker to take on the Bake Off was Richard who has never baked before and was cautious about the competition. He was however quite proud of his achievement and the overall presentation of his ‘Cake Surprise’. We asked Richard if he would continue with the baking and he stated “He wouldn’t carry on baking, while there were so many amazing caterers in the world”.
Richard had baked a 6 layer cake, a vanilla sponge sandwiched with chocolate ganache with a chocolate sponge held together with a chocolate mousse and a thick layer of chocolate buttercream. Sprinkled with M&Ms and white chocolate drops. Take a looks at Richards cake below.
Richards scored the following:
Presentation: 29/45
Skill: 29/45
Taste: 29/45
Total: 87/135
Congratulations to Richard on his cake, it was a interesting start to the bake off!
Next week’s baker will be Lauren Jones. Follow our Twitter and Facebook to keep up to date with the latest bakes.
