AsOne Bake Off ‘Chocolate Cake’

There is only three weeks until it is the final of our AsOne Bake Off and it has been an exciting competition up to now!

This week saw the turn of Ana Basto baking a cake of her choice. Ana went for a very moist chocolate cake decorated with an abundance of strawberries. Ana said that she got her cake as moist as possible by adding melted chocolate and lots of extra butter! This gave the cake the texture of a brownie with a slightly cracked top. However the team loved this compared to your normal fluffy cakes we have previously seen.

Ana was scored on the following:

Presentation – Each person will vote on how well they believe the baker decorated their cake. This can be done with anything the baker chooses and with any theme.

Taste – Each person will vote on how good they believe the bakers cake tasted. This does not have to necessarily have to be a sweet bake.

Skill – Each person will score the baker on how much skill was required to execute the bake. For example if it is a box made cake this requires little much skill, but if everything is homemade this will be classed as more skilful.
Ana has this to say about her bake: ‘My baking went amazingly well considering I was doing it while packing for holiday (All at the same time because im the multitasking queen!) and i was so proud of my cake! I will most certainly make it again when i get back from holiday!AsOne Bake Off 'Moist Chocolate cake'

Ana scored the following:

Presentation – 34/45

Skill – 33/45

Taste – 37/45

Total – 104/135

This puts Ana in fourth  place! Meaning Tracey remains in the lead. The leader board is currently as follows:

2nd – Alex Singleton ‘Marauders Map’ – 110/135

3rd – Lauren Jones ‘Piggy Delights’ – 108/35

4th – Ana Basto ‘Moist Choc Cake’ – 104/135

5th – Danielle Dowling ‘Victoria Sponge Cake’ – 88/135

6th – Richard O’Brien ‘Cake Surprise’ – 87/135
